Additional PCR Test in Dubai to be Taken by Travelers From Selected Countries

Covid-19 has had a huge impact on travel from and to Dubai. Dubai has closed its airport on March 26th to avoid the spread of Covid-19. However, on July 7, the city has reopened its doors for visitors and has been welcoming visitors since then. Starting on the 1st of August, a PCR Test in Dubai will be mandatory for those coming from selected countries.

The city has set precautions and requirements that must be followed by all travelers from and to Dubai. On the 1st of August, additional Covid-19 Travel Precautions will be set for travelers to Dubai.

PCR test in Dubai: What are These Additional Precautions?

Since the airports have reopened on the 7th of July, multiple safety precautions have been set to travelers to the city of Dubai. These precautions include constant sanitation of hands, wearing masks at all times, social distancing, and mandatory PCR test before the date of the flight. 

The PCR test has to be taken at least 96 hours before the date of the flight and only those with a negative result will be permitted to travel. All passengers must own a valid negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate upon arrival to Dubai.

However, effective on August 1st, people visiting Dubai from the countries listed below will have to take another PCR test in Dubai:  

  • Afghanistan
  • Armenia
  • Brazil
  • Bangladesh
  • Djibouti
  • Egypt
  • Eritrea
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Lebanon
  • Montenegro
  • Nigeria
  • Pakistan
  • Philippines
  • Russian Federation,
  • Serbia
  • Somalia
  • South Africa
  • Sri Lanka
  • Sudan
  • Tajikistan
  • Tanzania
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uzbekistan
  • United States (selected airports: Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, including passengers originating from California, Florida, and Texas who connect to an Emirates flight from any airport to Dubai)

Those who arrive from the countries listed above will be required to take another PCR test in Dubai upon arriving in the city. These precautions are set to ensure the safety of the travelers and to avoid any spread of the virus in the city. 

After the passengers have taken the Covid-19 PCR test in Dubai, they will be isolated until the results are out. If the results of the test come out as negative, then the passengers will no longer need to be isolated.
